Wel-Mach is a Vaasa-based metal company specializing in subcontracting for multinational companies.
The corporation was originally established by Mr. Knut Österberg in 1948. At the time, Finland was recovering from war and there was a shortage of nearly everything. Being a machinist by trade, Knut started a small workshop where he built coffee mills, hair rollers and other household items for sale.
In 1953, new and bigger production facilities were built in Panimontie, followed by the first machine for production of plastic details in 1958. In the same year, the production of one of Österberg Group’s most well-known products began: plastic piggy banks for the national Säästöpankki.
In 1966 the company moved to Kruunantie, the location where Österberg Group’s headquarters is still situated today. From this time on, business began focusing more on industrial subcontracting. The first business acquisition was carried out in 1978, when the Österberg family acquired 70 % of the stock in Petsmo, which later changed its name to Petsmo Products. After this, the group has steadily grown through different business acquisitions.
Today, Österberg Group is a traditional family business with a total turnover of approximately 40 million euros.

Our operating system has been certified according to the SFS-EN ISO 9001:2015 and SFS-EN ISO 14001:2015 standards. Our welding department is certified according to the EN 3834-2 standard. Currently, we are in the process of being certified according to the SFS-EN 1090-1+A1 standard. Wel-Mach is committed to active environmental care and to adhering to the environmental requirements set on companies.

We have high standards for the hands we trust our customers’ projects in. We train our staff regularly and make sure that everyone working for us is at the top of their trade.
